About the Event
Cinémathèque @ the Camden Opera House is a new monthly film program celebrating the best of classic, foreign, and cult cinema. This thrilling selection for the big screen aims to challenge, invigorate, and promote dialogue. Casual post-show discussions at nearby 40 Paper will follow each screening, including ½ price drinks starting at 9 pm.
Join us for our inaugural series screening, as we kick off Cinémathèque with GIRLFRIENDS on Monday, January 14 at 7 pm.
GIRLFRIENDS takes place against the unmistakable backdrop of 1970’s New York City. Anne and Susan struggle to launch their artistic careers, until Anne’s eventual marriage leaves Susan to continue her everyday dramas alone. This hilarious, overlooked classic is one of the greatest on-screen representation of female friendship. Directed by Claudia Weill, 1978, USA, 1h28min.
Cinémathèque will run Mondays at 7pm; General admission tickets $8, available at the door only. Curated by Joanna Spinks and generously sponsored by 40 Paper.
UPCOMING SCREENINGS:
